Kevina Singleton, Counsellor
Dip.Couns. MBACP
Kendal and Kirkby Stephen, Cumbria
Hello, I'm Kevina (she/her), a therapeutic counsellor for adults.
A common concern for many people who come to see me is relationships - those we have with others and the ones we have with ourselves. Relationship challenges, loss, grief, the dormant parts of us we'd like to resurrect, and the bits we're glad to leave behind.
Aspects of life that I support with are:
- anxiety, depression, stress
- grief, loss, bereavement, pet loss
- separation, divorce, family dynamics
- loneliness, self-esteem, attachment
- abuse, trauma
- work issues, redundancy, retirement
- illness, ageing, life stage
- miscarriage, infertility, baby loss
My role is to help you to make sense of things, to develop deeper self-knowledge and understanding, and strengthen foundations for the future.
In our sessions you will receive empathy, acceptance, and gentle challenge - all important for change.
Counselling can be a deeply empowering experience, offering you a place to express and feel everything you need to without unwelcome pressure or judgment.

About Me
I'm a trauma-informed, neuroaffirming, and LGBTQ+ inclusive counsellor working with individual adults aged 18 and over. I have been counselling people since 2021 and running my private practice since 2023.
An integrative counsellor, my therapeutic approach is a blend of person-centred and psychodynamic, and through a trauma-informed lens.
In essence, this means that we focus on the present and what you're finding most difficult; and, where relevant, apply meaning and understanding to this by exploring the past. All at a pace that feels comfortable for you.
Alongside counselling, I have a working knowledge of health and social care, having spent 15 years in a variety of roles in those sectors. My experience left me with deep insight into the wide-ranging needs of people and the challenges faced in getting those needs met.
Prior to this, I spent over five years working in an investment management team, providing support to fund managers. I was like a fish out of water, but really enjoyed the insights it gave me into a world I otherwise had no connection to.
I have provided counselling in a prison, and currently support a bereavement charity.
I feel like I've done a lot, but have finally found my home.
A Registered Member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (MBACP), I adhere to its Ethical Framework for the Counselling Professions, details of which can be found here: bacp.co.uk.

Walk and Talk Counselling in and around Kirkby Stephen
Walk and Talk counselling takes the therapy sessions outdoors. It can be an appealing option for many who find the formality of a therapy room uncomfortable, benefit from keeping their body in motion, or for whom online or telephone sessions are not feasible.
Walk and Talk counselling with me involves a gentle walk, or a sit down, in nature. What I offer is not an intended therapeutic connection with nature itself, although benefits can still be experienced. The core of the therapeutic work remains centred on the client/counsellor relationship and the talking elements of therapy.
Locations are chosen to minimise intrusion and maximise privacy, although neither of these factors can be protected fully.
What you share in the sessions will, however, remain confidential.
